Single fruiting beneath Douglas fir and Western red cedar.
Nolanea with Pale tones overall.
Stem: Pruinose.
Gills: coated in pink spore drop.
Odor: None.
Harvested single specimen.
Removed a single gill and mounted in 3% KOH.
Spores: Angular, 5-6 sided, medium sized.
Basidia: both 4 and 2 sterigmate analyzed/photographed.
Lamellar trama: abundant globose cells.
Dehydrating specimen for herbarium collection/genetic record.

Cap: pale dull yellow.
Cap vellum very fragile/delicate. Slides off easily.

Cap: “ironed on” vellum material adhering to cap cuticle.
Cap: peachy tones/orange/yellowish.
Stem: short, squat.
Harvested 1/2 cap.

MICROSCOPY:
Spores: ellipsoid, with slightly curved tips, medium sized.

Fruiting in soil/duff/needle litter/debris beneath Western red cedar and Douglas fir.
Unusually large/meaty fruiting bodies.
Stems/lower portion dark coco brown contrasting the all black caps.
Harvested 4 specimens.
Analayzed exterior with my Apexel macro lens attachment. NO SETAE=Geoglossum. Also not viscid.
Removed a portion of exterior tissue from multiple fertile cap points and crush mounted in Lugol’s solution and drop of 3% KOH.
MICROSCOPY:
Spores: 7 septate(with 8 sections). All analyzed are 7 septate and slightly curved.
Asci: 8 spored.
Paraphyses: long, thicker than any Geoglossaceae I’ve analyzed. Swollen/curved/curled tips. Extending longer than Asci.
All features match for Geoglossum umbratile.

Fruiting abundantly on two Douglas fir cones. Partially buried cone had fruiting bodies with longer stipes attached through covering needle duff.
Harvested an entire cone and part of the 2nd buried cone(left remainder to continue spreading spores on forest floor).
Removed a portion of cup and crush mounted in 3% KOH.
MICROSCOPY:
Spores: elliptical, smooth, very small.
Asci: 8 spored.
Paraphyses: very slender, whip like, filiform, aseptate(lacking septa). Slightly swollen tips.
Dehydrating collection attached to host/substrate for herbarium collection/genetic record.

Pruinose/frosted stems, darkening base where handled.
Harvested 7 specimens.
Removed a single gill from mature fruiting body and mounted in 3% KOH.
MICROSCOPY:
Cheilocystidia: abundant! Long, slender with rounded ball shaped apices.
Basidia: 4 sterigmate.
Spores: ovoid, roughened, medium sized.

Fruiting abundantly in dense clusters on woodchips. Cup exterior pale(paler than interior).
Harvested 2 clusters of fruit in bodies.
Sliced a mature fruiting body lengthwise to analyze context(interior layers) with my Apexel macro lens(attached to iPhone11 Pro Max.
Context: 5 distinct layers visible. See two shots taken with my Apexel attachment 24X included in observation.
Removed portion of cap tissue and crush mounted on a glass slide in Lugol’s solution and a small drop of 3% KOH.
MICROSCOPY:
Spores: Eguttulate(lacking interior droplets), large, smooth, broadly elliptical/ovoid.
Paraphyses: long, slender with distinctly swollen tips(spoon to curved spatula like apices on all paraphyses analyzed).
Asci: 8 spored. Tips blue in Lugol’s solution.
Dehydrating all specimens for herbarium collection/genetic record.
Fruiting body exterior drying completely white after dehydration.

Young fruiting bodies beneath Douglas fir.
Fruiting bodies orange brown throughout.
Cap: densely matted/fibrillose.
Gills: vibrant orange(unique for Inocybe).
Stem: scaly and tinged pinkish where handled. Pruinose at apex. Stem base is white, not bulbous.
Stem context: vibrant carrot orange.
Odor: fishy metallic with slightly spermatic back note.
Harvested 5 specimens.
Removed gill tissue from a single specimen and mounted on slide in 3% KOH.
Spore printed cap directly on a separate slide for spore print.
MICROSCOPY: from gill mount.
Cheilocystidia: Metuloid, club shaped. Encrusted with granules at apex(golden yellow encrustations in KOH).
Spores: narrowly elliptic to ovoid, smooth, thick walled, Medium in size.
Basidia: only 4 sterigmate analyzed.
Spore print(slide#2): dull brown/grayish brown.
Dehydrated all specimens thoroughly and bagged for herbarium collection/genetic record.
Gills and stem context drying vibrant orange after full dehydration.
