Marine Wildlife Health

This project is the front line in detecting and tracking disease outbreaks in marine wildlife species. Included are observations of both healthy and unhealthy marine animals, algae, plants, etc. This project was created by members of the PRIMED Network (Primary Responders in Marine Emergent Disease) and is primarily focused on the North American West Coast (for now). Our scientists and wildlife managers are keeping track of these observations so we can rapidly respond to threats to our marine wildlife.

The mission of PRIMED is to detect, monitor and effectively respond to marine wildlife disease emergencies in a changing ocean. We are an interdisciplinary group of scientists, managers, educators, and community members with broad expertise in many fields including disease dynamics, ecology, and natural resource management.
