S. canadensis and S. gigantea are rare finds for me (until now) so until I see them better I may have some confusions; there are a few extra photos with the overall area/habitat, this observation is part of a IAPs study. Cultivated

Don't know whose this is.

I have found no traces of bears in the area (scattered garbage, dogs barking at night, tracks, scratched or debarked trees, scat etc.) - which is not to say that this means anything.
I'm just saying that, compared to other areas, where it is full of signs of bears, this place seemed surprisingly “devoided” of bears.
And, for what is worth, the locals say that they have never heard of bears in the area - obviously take that with a grain of salt.

I would be curious if anyone has any real data concerning the bear population in the area.
