The owl was in a maple tree outside my front door. Well camouflaged, only saw it because 2 crows were noisily harassing it in the tree. Stayed for an hour, relocated to different branch, then to edge of garage roof. I live on an open field that was mowed last week so hawk and fox hunting activity has increased. Northern harrier seen 3 days in a row.

This ermine (tail about half as long as body rather than about as long as body) has apparently cleaned out all our house mouse population. It was very focused on getting into the new bag of dog food awaiting transfer to metal container. It kept working on the bag as I took several dozen photos from nine feet away.

Individual retrieving a road-killed male American Kestrel (see also other entry) picked up off the nearby State Highway 118 and placed on this bench on my property a few hours before. Feathers and other remains of the kestrel indicate that it was consumed on the ground just below and to the right of out-of-frame of the trail camera. Note dead mice also on the bench which were killed in the garage the night before and also placed on the bench. These were ignored by the Cooper's hawk. Entry by CP.
