First documented observation of this species in our region (Eastern Canada)
Specimen ID was recently confirmed by another expert and is being prepared for herbarium deposition.
Location: Pubnico, NS
(GPS location obscured)
Habitat: Red Maple, in an old RM swamp
Some of the key characteristics contributing to this ID:
- no soredia
- isidia are marginal, branched
- The underside of the lichen has a short, brown tomentum, with cyphellae.
I'm not a regular inaturalist user and am just getting around to uploading some things from last field season (2021). Wanted to post this one since it's relatively more important.

I may not have enough of a patch to confirm/deny ID, but all of the patches around seemed to show the "c-shaped areoles" typical of R. lecanorinum. Whether it is that or R. geographicum, either way, it's new to me :)

growing atop rotting log in wet mature mixed forest; I am a complete bryophyte neophyte but seems to match the form and fruiting bodies of images of P, pulcherrimum that I found in a nature blog from New York state. Comments or confirmation greatly appreciated.
