A very unexpected site on Route 6 between the turn for Boyce Memorial Drive and the entrance to the recycling facility. U.S. Silica sand pit in Ottawa has been the source of many stories that I have heard involving harder to see wildlife. The sand pit is just south west of this location. Unfortunately this individual did not make it trying to cross Route 6 but ended up between the 2 lanes. This allowed the body to survive for a while. I clearly saw the face and body as I tried to get at least one photo of the occurrence. A photo of the face would have been ideal but not possible at the time. I decided to post this since the fur pattern is remarkably intact at the time of the photo. (this was before knowing about this site. I usually had to not even take the picture)
