From right, Coprosma grandifolia, Coprosma robusta, and what I expect is a hybrid of Coprosma robusta and Coprosma propinqua,
Two chicks have now fully fledged. They are still hanging out with their parents who are still protecting them from black backed gulls and banded dotterels and trying to protect them from humans and dogs. These are the first NZ dotterel to nest successfully in the Wellington region for decades.
Found growing naturally in bush by Taramakau river and also beside house in the area. Not planted there by long term owners. Could be a spleenwort but I cannot find any reference identifying it.
Locally abundant and in places forming a canopy (up to 10 m tall - the tallest examples of this species I have yet seen). Numerous seedlings and saplings noted.
