Wildflower Walk at Mayacamas - March 2015

I didn't have a camera or a notepad so let's see if I can remember what I saw with Dave Self wandering around the preserve on the 19th:

.Purple Chinese Houses (Collinsia heterophylla)
.Baby Stars (Linathus bicolor) - we were calling them baby eyes - according to the field guide there are all kinds of Linathus that I'd have to ID more closely next time. We sat long enough and saw a teddybear fly coming around to pollinate these with its long tongue.
.St. Helena Fawn Lily (Erythronium helenae) - bright yellow center ringed with bright white. This was the perfect time - so many were blooming.
.Blue Dicks (Dichelostemma pulchellum) - many popping up near the road cuts especially
.Foothill Penstemon (Penstemon heterophylla)
.Indian Paintbrush (Castilleja spp.) - several hummingbird pollinators were hanging around these
.Indian Warrior (Pedicularis densiflora) - could see very clearly how hummingbirds would be the perfect pollinators for these
.Buttercup (Ranunculus spp.)
.Blue-eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium bellum) - we also saw a bright white version
.Henderson's Shooting Star (Dodecatheon hendersonii)
.Buckbrush in bloom (Ceanothus) - I was really amazed by the scent in the air
.Checker Lily (Fritillaria affinis)* -not found in the Peterson wildflower guide
.Spinster Blue-Eyed Mary (Collinsia sparsiflora)
.[Western] Spring Beauties (Claytonia lanceolata)
.Long-Beaked Storksbill (Erodium botrys) - amazing little plants - amazing how the seeds form and corkscrew
.Dwarf Plantain (Plantago erecta) - tiniest flowers and easy to overlook.the whole plant is dainty
.California Milkwort (Polygala californica)* - also not found in the field guide
