Black Witch Moth

I'm just not fast enough with my phone camera!! I have now seen a black witch moth at Whitewater Preserve 3 times!!!! They are huge, amazing creatures. They seem to flutter around kind of willy-nilly. The very first time was during docent training under the shade structure. I seriously thought it was a bat. But it eventually landed in the eaves of an outbuilding and we could see it was a moth. The last time was just the other day (10/1/22). I was inside the ranger station helping with training, and saw one go by the window. The trailing edge of its wings seemed to be kind of ragged. Again, I thought it was a bat for a short moment. But I realized it was a black witch by its acrobatics. One of these days I'll get a picture.
