2023 Dragonfly/Damselfly Locations to Visit

Brecksville Reservation:

  • Maintenance yard (very dry last year)
  • Gray Petaltail area along bridle trails

Millstream Run Reservation:

  • Bonnie Park – ponds and trail south of Pearl Road along river.
  • North of Pearl Road along river (Tim Krynak) Rubber boots? Wade the river when low?
  • Wet area back in the woods near the covered bridge.

North Olmsted Park (David Fortier River Park) Dragonflies on turtle photo?

Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation – Downhill from the Canalway Center.
West Creek Reservation – Wetlands, Bluebird Point field and field near the Radio Tower to the south.

Hinckley Reservation: Gravel Road/Rocky River and Judge’s Lake
Richfield Heritage Preserve: Mostly Upper Lake, the Gemini Cabin and gravel road to the power lines area.
Rising Valley Park – The loop trail. The former athletic fields are now filled with native plants.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park:

  • About 1.5 miles south of Canal Road on Towpath Trail. Walk the bridle trails on the way back.
  • Frazee House Area – Arrow Clubtails along the Towpath trail. Dragonhunter/Sagamore Creek
  • The closed bridge at the end of Tinkers Creek Road and the Tinkers Creek Aqueduct area.
  • Terra Vista - The pond, the path past the pond, the start of the Butterfly Trail just before the pond and the trail that circles the cemetery.
  • Canal Road Visitors Center area mostly north on the Towpath Trail to Hathaway Road (Stone Road).
  • South from Rockside Road/Bottom of Stone Road hill from Independence. (Hemlock Creek Trail).
  • Brookside Road Marsh – The gravel maintenance road off Pleasant Valley Road was good.
  • Jaite/Buckeye Trail area.
  • You enjoyed going to Indigo Lake one day. Other places?
  • Wetlands south of Boston between the two highway bridges.
  • Everett Road Covered Bridge Area of Furnace Run
