Animals/Insects Nature Walk

Today I went on a nature walk around campus. I saw several insects and animals including a common ant, a house sparrow, a few ducks, many Canadian geese, and a common mouse. I started my walk at the top of the stairs next to the parking garage and walked down towards Voute. When I got to Voute, I found an ant hill in the mulch next to a tree trunk. There were several ants around the hole, but they did not appear to be carrying anything. As I walked along the way from Voute towards my dorm at 2k, I spotted a house sparrow in the mods parking lot. It was flying and playing with another sparrow in the lot. Eventually I got to the reservoir and I spotted many birds in the water. It was clear that there were a combination of dark colored ducks, and several Canada Geese. Many of the ducks were bobbing there heads into the water perhaps to find food. My last observation was back in Voute when I decided not to go back to my dorm just yet. I found a mouse running across the floor and it scared many people. Overall, today was a pretty windy, but fairly temperate day averaging around 50ºF. This connects to what we learned in class because I was able to observe animal interactions and behaviors in the wild.

Plant Walk

Today I went on my iNaturalist Plant walk through the Pine Tree Reserves on my way back to the library after eating lunch. It was a very nice day out despite the cloudy morning weather. The sun was shining and it was a warm 63ºF with minimal wind. There were other people in the pine tree reserves as well. I saw ivies growing on the sides of trees, burdocks on the sides of the trails, moss on the side of trees, a weed on the side of the path, as well as clovers.

Fungi Walk

Today, I went on a walk from the reservoir apartments to main campus past the Evergreen Cemetery and passed by the Pine Tree Reserves. It was a gloomy day and it was misting with a slight breeze around 58ºF. The first 2 photos I found just on the other side of the Evergreen Cemetery fence and they were next to leaves on the ground The other 3 photos were found in the Pine Tree Reserves on the side of the trails. Through the walk, the mist began to come down a little harder and it was very damp out. I also saw a slug on the trail.

iNaturalist Walk 1

Today I went on a walk near the Pine Tree Reserves on my walk back to the Reservoir Apartments after class. It was a very nice day out with the sun shining and a cool dry 67ºF. There was minimal wind and many people were walking around and biking around the reservoir. The 5 wild life observations I made for this day was a Eastern Gray Squirrel, Canada Goose, a Common Eastern Bumble Bee, Dandelions, and the Woolly Hedgenettle. I saw the bee, the dandelions, and the Woolly Hedgenettle in the pine tree reserves off to the side of the paths, and saw the Canada Goose and the squirrel next to the Res.
