Still learning 7-11-19
I've been using this ap for about three weeks now and I'm starting to get the gist of it. There is still lots to learn. I am lucky that one of my favorite trees is flowering right now. A Mimosa tree (Persian silk tree) grew outside of my window when I was a little girl. Between the pink fluffy flowers, the touch-sensitive leaves, and tons of volunteer saplings every year, it kept me interested. Unfortunately, a mystery I would like to solve is why we no longer get saplings in this area. I would have thought it would do better in a warming climate.
Steps taken so far:
- I've picked up a couple of starter field guides
- Two places created: Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site and Horseshoe Lake
- One list began for Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site (but this may have been too ambitious for now).
- I'm trying to get a basic set of observations for this area, cultivated or not. I still need to learn the basic set of trees
- 27 taxa so far, all photographed with an iPhone.
