Unwanted Hitchhikers!

Well, two days after being out in the woods and prairie grass and taking pictures of milkweed bugs, barn swallows and their nests and checkered skippers, flower beetles, and bees. I came across red dots that hurt when you touch them, they were on top of my ankles. I thought to myself poison ivy. Then a bit later behind my knees, more red dots, then around my waist line. It then dawned on me, I have a mild case of chiggers.
I washed everything I came in contact with, including bed sheets, bath towels. I showered twice a day for two days until the bumps finally stopped appearing. I vacuumed for three days in a row.
All the years of camping ,climbing trees and running through fields of weeds, myself and with my kids, never did I encounter anything except a tick here and their, same with my kids. I had jeans, socks and sneakers on. I may have stood in the field just a teeny bit to long. 😜
Some itch cream and it seems the spots are doing better. I was surprised I was not scratching. I thought it would be bad. I have heard horror stories. I think I will be staying out of the field until these go away.

I stayed home for three days. Wearing jeans did not feel so good. Loose clothes felt so much better.😁 I will have to invest in some insect spray for the times I decide to walk in the fields. (lol)

So, word of advise. Keep spray with you for those times you may venture off into the wilderness. Enjoy!

Sounds like the chigger bites I got out in those fields. Annoying critters.
