Meridien State Park

Very nice park. It offers fishing and canoeing, and swimming. It has camping, water, showers, restrooms electric. It has wide hiking shaded trails. Some are hilly and rocky in spots.

This park has many Ash juniper woodlands, which the Endangered Golden-Cheeked Warbler loves.
It is 505-acres with a small lake. It has beautiful lookout spots and a blind for the many other birds that come to this park.
They offer a very nice area called civilian conservation corps stone refectory, for a family cookout or group type setting.
In the Spring it is blooming with bluebonnets. If you have not been, you may want to give it a try.

Google the park and read a bit about it..

During the week, it was empty in November.
It is pretty in the early fall, I can imagine it is just as pretty in the spring and summer. The park has narrow winding roads for driving on but it sure is pretty driving it.

As the Brochure states, World War 1 veterans built this park between July 1933 and October 1934. They built a rock and earthen dam to form the 72 acre Lake Meridien. The CCC also built culverts, bbq pits and a stone bridge that remains in this park. It is very clean and peaceful. It is out in the middle of nowhere. This land has some history. Throughout the park, trail maps give bits of information on the park and its past.
