This mealworm was found in a bag of horse feed. It is not native to the Americas, however it was naturalized here. It can be found along with humans, consuming grains and decaying food. The plant itself was tall and shrub-like, with uniquely shaped green leaves and thin brown woody stems (much like a papaya plant). Unlike a papaya plant, there were no flowers or fruit to be seem and as previously stated, unlike the papaya plant, it was shrub-like instead of a fruit. An exact identification was unable to be provided, however it is deduced that it is somewhat related to the papaya family.
If it were to be in the papaya family, it would occupy subtropical or tropical regions.

The moss itself its tiny and only occupies the damp, sandy loam. Gemmae cups can be seem in the picture and they are in circular clusters spaced out a bit from each other. Their reproductive organs are a giveaway for the group that they belong too.

Being identified as in the genus Sphaerocarpos, this type of liverwort moss is found all over the world. There are some species that are endemic to California, but it is also found in Africa.
