The observation is not about the lichen, but rather the small protuberance ( .5 to 1 inch tall). This organism has a green/ grey coloration.
Usually Airplants as seen in here will anchor to other organisms rather than the soil. In this case the airplants have a commensalistic relationship with their host since one organism is benefited (airplants) while the other one neither helped/ harmed.
The are abundant in equatorial tropical rain forests, high elevation Andes mountains, rock dwelling regions, and Louisiana swamps, also roofs and telephone wires.

Found in a county park. The organism was about 1.5 inches tall. The stem appears to have a white coloration while the gills and the cap have a white/pinkish coloration ( they are white when young but turn pink with age)
Damp lowland field and moist habitat. Located in an accumulation of woodchips piles and fallen leafs.
Most abundant in Ireland, where it is most often seen in fields that have been harvested of a grain crop, as well as southern mainland Europe. Nevertheless is widely seen in the southeast side of North America.
