Johnson linanthus, Linanthus bigelovii subsp. johnsonii, California, White Mountains, Black Mountain, Owens Valley watershed, elevation 1417 m (4650 ft).

The subspecies johnsonii was named in 2015 to account for the non-glandular plants in the western part of the species range, including here in the White Mountains. Turns out that typical subspecies bigelovii from Arizona is sparsely stalked glandular on the upper stems.

desert peppercress, Lepidium lasiocarpum subsp. lasiocarpum, California, White Mountains, Antelope Spring, Deep Springs Valley watershed, elevation 1693 m (5555 ft).

Crazy variability in this species. I thought for sure this was going to key out to something else based on the tall growth form. (Compare other nearby observations of the same species.)
