I'm entering this record for Daryl McMahon, who emailed me this information and photograph. Here are some of his notes: "My walk is mostly in the bush and so it would be difficult to see any that may be on the ground. The photo is from an area where I had moved to the road. It is at the top of a steep hill above a river (Nith). I saw one salamander, took a few steps and saw another. I remembered seeing some at the same time last year so I looked more closely. I had to move wet leaves along the curb to uncover the ones I photographed and have no idea how many could have been there had I continued to look. All of them (including those from today and yesterday combined) were within an area of about 20 yards.) I tried to find something about that area that made it different or special and found nothing."
