Just caught this weird “hornet”… big head, big eyes, short straight antennae, yellow stripes on abdomen don’t stretch across but are broken by a black stripe. Legs yellow on the ends but black by the body…. Completely black on the underside. Moves like a parasitic wasp but without the wing flicks. Huge mandibles!

Saw a family of three an multiple occasions. Swooped low above me and also had some interaction with crows. Both attacking the crows and crows pestering them.

What kind of wasp is this? It’s parasitic.... laud eggs in a Mason bee home.
