Shows the frantic mating ritual of Neoxabea bipunctata. The male clasps onto vegetation and hangs down, with the female grasping the male and being flung about wildly.

I suspect most Neoxabean species share this behavior. If you find a brownish or tannish tree cricket pair flailing like this, you have probably found a Neoxabean species.

Thanks, @dusty_in_vilas-tx,. for pointing out that GIFs can be submitted.

Thus far, on the shore area of Lake Annie, I have submitted photos that have been ID'd as: Rubber Rabbitbrush, Mountain Sagebrush and Basin Big Sagebrush.

Is this also one of those three?

Initially encountered moving across the small road within a block of the nature center. A tourist picked it up and quickly decided he didn't want to touch it and flung it to the ground. I voiced my disapproval, gently picked it up and placed it in the brush off the road in the direction it had been traveling. One of the coolest creatures I have ever encountered.

I often find wasps inside stems with oviposition scars of Oecanthinae. The stems are opened at the end of the year - after all tree crickets would already have emerged in the summer. These wasps had been ID'd by L. Masner as Oethecoctonus oecanthi. Apparently little is known about them. I am posting these photos with the hope of finding someone who is interested in studying them. I do have some specimens in ETOH.
