Having been inspired by the Winyah Wildlife Project in South Carolina to “survey backyard biodiversity throughout the 3rd largest watershed on the east coast”, I decided to survey our own scant half acre to learn about the diversity we live with here in Florida. My observations include not only resident species, but those that fly over, crawl or hop through this space. I have already learned that there is much more going on in this small area than I would ever have thought and that identifying the variety of living things is often challenging.
