During my career I was paid to work in and learn about the four deserts in the USA's southwest. Though I have enjoyed traveling to many places, deserts and their sky islands have captured my heart.
Butterflies, birds, reptiles, plants, geology, weather, and MANY other things interest me.
I volunteer for Sky Island Alliance, www.skyislandalliance.org , as a wildlife tracker and in other capacities.
I also volunteer for the Southeast Arizona Butterfly Association, www.seaba.org .
Since December 2016, I have been documenting roadkills on I-19 since I believe that I-11, an "improved" route will happen and it must provide for wildlife corridors. I do not have time to photograph all the roadkills, and I do not want to be along the highway and become a roadkill myself! I find it interesting that the Santa Cruz River Valley has been a trading and transportation corridor for people for multi-millenia, and, if we do not destroy ourselves, it will continue to be one into the future.
