Though the township had some active recreational facilities during the mid-1990s, the familiar rolling hills, farms and pastoral views of Campton Township had quickly begun to yield to a sea of subdivisions. To residents concerned with this fast pace of development, a plan to protect the township’s open lands was an immediate need. A grass roots group of township residents began looking at how best to protect a way of life and the beautiful contours of the landscape before it was forever altered. Thus began the protection of the parks and open spaces that make up Campton Township Open Space.
