I am an Associate Research Scientist at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley working on surveys for the state-threatened Black-spotted Newt and have recently completed studies on the Rio Grande Cooter and Lesser Siren. Additionally, I am examining and documenting the introduction and spread of several species of non-native Hemidactylus geckos across south Texas. I received my PhD from the University of South Dakota examining the effects of agricultural practices on wetlands in the Prairie Pothole Region, combining disease ecology, ecotoxicology, and stress physiology. I am additionally working on updating distributions of amphibians and reptiles in South Dakota and have combined over 14,500 records based from voucher specimens and photographs.
