I am an environmental educator in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I use iNaturalist to document the species at city parks as part of educating the public and managing habitats for the Department of Recreation and Parks. Though I tend to focus on birds, I also try to document the other vertebrates, insects, plants, and fungi I find. I've been birding in Louisiana since 2005 and sampled riverine turtles, particularly map turtles and alligator snapping turtles, during graduate school. Through my involvement with the Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists, I've learned a lot about the plants of Cajun prairie and many other taxonomic groups outside of my particular expertise.
