I first heard about iNaturalist from an "It's okay to be smart" video, and it was a great way for my family to spend time together outdoors during the covid-19 pandemic. We spend a lot of time at Schmeeckle Reserve and on the Green Circle Trail in Stevens Point, WI. We also use the app quite a lot to help identify plants and wildlife as we work to replace our lawn with a focus on native plants. We currently have a pollinator garden, shade garden, prairie "patch", and have more big plans in the works!
Growing up, my family participated in the Citizen Lake Monitoring Network and Aquatic Invasive Species monitoring, so I'm enjoying this new opportunity to participate in citizen science again.
