I am a Ph.D. student in the Egan lab at Rice University. I currently live in Houston, by way of New England. The main focus of my research is in contemporary rapid ecological adaptation events. I use the recent host shift (~60 years) of the red-shouldered soapberry bug as a model system to examine host-associated divergence, incipient speciation, and potential mechanisms that facilitate reproductive isolation in sympatry. I am constantly on the lookout for new field sites with populations of red-shouldered soapberry bugs and their many host plants: western soapberry, golden raintrees, balloon vine, and Mexican boxelder.
