I have lived my whole life in the Coastal Redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains in California (since 1982!). I spent my whole childhood outdoors, exploring everything. Have done plenty of hiking, camping and backpacking. Thanks to my father getting me outside whenever possible and for many trips the the Sierra Nevada, I have a healthy love and respect for the natural world. Thanks to my mom, I have a love for animals. In fact, became a Registered Veterinary Technician (21 years now). I have been taking photographs for many years, trying to use books, internet and other people's input to identify all kinds of plants and animals. I never feel more at peace than when I am with nature. I have a deep love for the Coast
Redwood forest. In August of 2020, the CZU lightning complex fire swept through and destroyed 86,509 acres of Coastal Redwood forest, including 97% of Big Basin State park, and burned down over 900 houses in my community. I started observing the regrowth of the forest, many species are coming back, and it's nice to be able to post this progress in local projects.
Other than that, I'm also interested in geology, meteorology and astronomy. I'm a Big San Jose Sharks fan and 49ers fan. I love music, I sing and play the ukulele. I have Chickens and spoil them in return for eggs. Most importantly, I am the mother of a beautiful and bright teenage daughter, and I like to lead by example and show her to respect and love the natural world, as well.
