I have lived most of my life near the shore of that body of water that was officially designated as the Salish Sea in 2010. In the 1980s and 1990s I was a recreational SCUBA diver but I have since relinquished the use of all that clunky equipment in favour of frequent snorkelling and occasional freediving as my way of enjoying the diverse marine life to be found in our local waters.

As a former geophysicist, software developer and private tutor, I know almost nothing about biology but I do like to take photos and identify what I have seen when I get home, often with the help of others.
