I'm an ecologist at Lincoln University (LU) and am mainly interested in plants and their ecology (particularly their fire ecology), but am also intrigued by reptiles and mammals. Snorkelling is one of my favourite pastimes, and I plan to add more records of aquatic critters here. I'm developing an inordinate fondness for crabs.

I run the LU Field Ecology Research course, which involves a five day field trip where students conduct research on a topic of their choice (http://www.lincolnecology.org.nz/?page_id=678). I also help organize EcoBlitzes, events where school students and experts monitor biodiversity.

I grew up in northern NSW and am trying to add many old and new records from that part of the world (especially the north-western slopes). While studying there I developed an inordinate fondness for dry rainforest (especially semi-evergreen vine thicket).
