January 27, 2021 - south side

Wednesday 9:10-11:40 am: 39 dead newts found, 3 juveniles. no live newts :(
Weather - cloudy, cold, raining during the first half. The rain began Tuesday afternoon, and hasn't really stopped. At night there was heavy rain, and strong winds. Rain MTD 2.8 in, YTD 5.95 in per http://www.weathercat.net/wxraindetail.php
We documented 39 dead newts, at least 3 of them juveniles, pretty small and very fresh, next to each other? Everything was wet, so it was difficult to tell how fresh the newts are, but at least some of them were very fresh, still had their colors.
Other roadkills: a few earthworms
Coverage: south part - from Aldercroft Heights Rd to the first stop sign. I walked with 3 new volunteers, and we parked by the Soza house, walked north to the stop sing, and then all the way to the intersection.
It was very quiet: Traffic: 31 cars (including at least 4 County Roads trucks), 1 bike, 0 pedestrians, and about 10 cars parked by the road.
I didn't see the HTH team. We found 1 newt near Array #6, I think they didn't check it yet. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/68700090

** I documented 1 newt next to the stop sin = north section territory. I didn't include it in the project, but I thought it would be interesting to see if it's still there by Saturday - https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/68700114
