CNC 2021: Identification Week!
Thanks to everyone for all your amazing observations shared on iNaturalist for the 2021 City Nature Challenge! Whether you shared one photo or hundreds, your contributions are so valuable to this project. We now have about a week to take those observations from "casual" to "research grade" by verifying IDs. Your help is greatly needed - even if it's just moving a photo from "unkown" to the correct big bin like plants or mammals. You can go to this link to see what still needs to be identified - and we're so grateful for your help!
You've also still got a few days to upload any last photos taken over the project dates (Friday - Monday, April 30 - May 3). Official results are released May 10, so probably a good idea to get photos uploaded soon so there's time to ID things.

Here are some species that should be somewhere in our observations (based on last year's list), but haven't shown up yet:
Japanese Pachysandra (11 observations last year)
Parajulid Millipedes (Family Parajulidae) (7 observations last year)
Ebony Spleenwort (Asplenium platyneuron) (7 observations last year)
Purple Cress (7 observations last year)
Common Motherwort (Leonurus cardiaca) (6 observations last year)
Hyacinth (Hyacinthus orientalis) (6 observations last year)
There are also some prominent missing birds, like the white-throated sparrow and yellow-rumped warbler, but they can probably be chalked up to warmer weather this year. I imagine they just flew north a bit earlier.
Hi @zygy - this is a great list, thanks - I'll keep an eye out as the observations continue to be id'd and see if any of these pop up. Any hypotheses? Did the early spring followed by a cold snap, and one-week-later date for the CNC possibly lead some of these to bloom earlier?
