Dragonflies have been around since before the dinosaurs, evolving to survive and bearing witness to many different versions of life on Earth. Of course, the species that were around 300 million years ago are different than those we observe today. For example, the Meganeuropsis permiana, a dragonfly that lived about 275 million years ago, is the largest insect known from prehistoric earth, similar in size to a crow.
