Academy of Science-STL BioBlitz at Shaw Nature Reserve

The Academy of Science - St. Louis BioBlitz is an exploration and inventory of the biodiversity of urban parks. September 18-19, 2015 teams of citizen scientists led by biologists, naturalists and environmental enthusiasts will search the natural areas of Missouri Botanical Gradens Shaw Nature Reserve, listing as many different species as they can find.

Environmental field experts and scientists from public, private and academic sectors lead teams of budding and experienced "citizen scientists" to explore and collect data on the biodiversity of Shaw Nature Reserve. "Everyone can be a citizen scientist," said Peggy James Nacke, BioBlitz Director, "students, individuals, and families. Come find out more about the creatures and botany that share the world with us. It's a fascinating and fun way to participate in important field research."

Pre-selected schools with over 250 students will participate in BioBlitz activities. menos ↑
