Day 1

These will probably be just for me, but so what. Today we Naturalists managed to get 73 observations and 34 species.

Day 2

Well it is close to the end of day 2. Our total is 110 observations and 56 species. 37 observations were added getting another 22 species, of which 15 observations were for today equaling 13 species. Today was the Portland Christmas Bird Count, but the weather was not good for pictures.

Day 3

The weather was blue skies here today in the valley. The project is now at 209 observations, and 88 species. There were 83 observations added today totaling 51 species.

Day 4

Today was fairly wet but the afternoon turned out to be decent.

We are now at 299 observations and 101 species. There were 73 observations totaling 41 species today.

Day 5

Ok, was a little tired last night so fell asleep before writing up the results. We are now at 411 observations and 119 species. 96 observations and 53 species were added yesterday.

Day 7

Ok so I fell asleep again before I was able to make yesterday's announcement. So I am rolling it into today's update. We are at 535 observations and 130 species. 109 observations were added in the last two days, totaling 58 species.

The 500th observation was the a Vesper Sparrow photographed today near Jackson Bottom Wetland in Washington County by @susankirkbride, which was also a county first. It was the first one found this year for the state, and only the 57th in the state ever. Susan has photographed two other individuals in the past. She ranks number 6 in the state for overall observations of the species.

Day 9

I managed to see the Clay-colored Sparrow, but no Vesper Sparrow. I was rewarded with a cooperative Lincoln's Sparrow. The project is now at 843 observations and 145 species. 115 observations were made spanning 64 species.

Day 10 - Day 12

Sorry for the late updates. These last couple days have been mixed weather but this morning it is sunny with a high of 55. Perfect birding weather to look for any individuals blown in by last nights storm.

Over the last 3 days 188 observations were added totaling 88 species. Our total is 1,059 observations and 157 species.
