A Sunday challenge

Hope you're looking forward to a warm but exciting Sunday of exploring for the City Nature Challenge! As of 8am this morning, we're about 500 unique species behind our total from last year. So here's my Sunday challenge to you: what unique animals or plants can you add to our list today? Don't forget that you can upload sound files - maybe you heard a frog or bird that you can't identify. And images of things that animals leave behind (tracks & traces - scat, footprints, bones) count as well. Finally, don't forget our oft-overlooked little tiny things if you have magnifying power. A stream macroinvert ID session, the little things that live in soil - these are pretty underrepresented in iNaturalist in general and could use your skillful observation & photography to help document.

Have a great Sunday!

Sorry to mass tag a bunch of you amazing observers & identifiers (thanks so much for all your participation this weekend!), but I'm hoping some of you might have spotted unsual/interesting/rare finds that we can share with the project organizers. If you notice anything exciting let me know & I'll get them on a shared spreadsheet. A link to the observation in the comments here or via email is perfect. @jmheberling @trehgr97 @sttpgh @jkester @kcknapp50 @andreakautz @dendroica_aml @rangerrick77 @stephen_bucklin bucklin @pefa17 @kwselcer @nrpeters @alexlafroscia @jschnakenberg @cheriecornmesser @julietrav24 @hstroud @lgiarratani @chalfantrenee @just_add_water @kshaw1003 @steviekgold @zygy @melissa577

I found a rare jumping spider, Attidops youngi, which has only been observed on iNat three times before. I'll be posting it later today.

I found Gyromitra ancilis (Pig Ear) and Auriscalpium vulgar (Earpick Fungus) those are pretty rare finds in PA.

@mandi-lyon - Here is the promised Attidops youngi observation. I should also mention that it's almost unbearably cute. https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/77063234

So sorry to miss this post. Sunday is a busy work day in my world. I only got a short walk and a few observations on Sunday myself and none were rare or unusual. I did enjoy watching the Frick Environmental center bird feeders for a time and enjoyed the fact that my new cell phone has a camera capable of getting pictures of birds that are decent enough to get them identified. All of my pics are take n with a cell phone cam and birds have always been virtually impossible until now. So while my Tufted titmouse is not rare or unusual or even a particularly pretty photo, it was maybe my favorite observation of the day.

Thanks @cheriecornmesser - I'm glad you got out for a great walk & snapped some photographs that you are proud of. Tufted titmice are amazing - how wonderful to see one up close.
