Location: First United Methodist Church
505 W. Marvin Ave., Waxahachie, TX
Family Life Center - Gathering Room

Indian Trail Chapter, Texas Master Naturalist

· 6:00 PM - Business Meeting

· 7:00 PM - Program by Amy Martin – Wildlife Habitat Management

Amy Martin, author of Itchy Business: How to Treat the Poison Ivy and Poison Oak Rash, Prevent Exposure and Eradicate the Plant (www.Itchy.biz), shares her deep knowledge of poison oak and ivy gleaned from 12 years working in wildlife habitat management. Facts such as that soap is terrible for removing urushiol from the skin and the poison oak and ivy barrier creams that actually work. You’ll learn how humans are the only animal allergic to poison oak and ivy, and why your immunity to poison oak and ivy can change at any time. Discover the herbs that are far better treating the rash than jewelweed and effective topical minerals like Milk of Magnesia.

Over her varied career spanning more than four decades, Amy Martin has covered petroleum science and environmental issues, written trail reviews of parks and preserves, and penned a book on herbology. Martin articulates complex, provocative and sometimes highly technical issues in a way that is always coherent and comprehensive, but also eloquent and lightheartedly wry.

Indian Trail Chapter is part of the statewide Texas Master Naturalist Volunteer Program of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

The Mission …to develop a corps of well-informed volunteers to provide education, outreach,
and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas
