Wow-what a great day !
we started our weekend well with many observations and some interesting ones as well. I always like to see the fantastic observations by @anthonypaul like this Nucastia sp. seen here below

I had a slow start with some things coming up in the morning but i headed up to Belair in the afternoon and what a terrible time for birds, as it was overcast 🥺however the Orchids are still in flower and it was a fantastic day for moths I think I saw many new species here is a selection, i will not give any names as i am unsure.

We have seen some other fantastic observations like these below

Ready Set Go

A few last minute reminders and tips for the GSB over the next 4 days

1) Remember to charge your camera or phone and carry spare batteries, memory cards and a car charger if you have one.
2) Try to make observations every day even if it is common things in your backyard
3) Take multiple photographs for accurate ID and to ensure a clear frame
4) Please be respectful of the environment, take only photographs-leave only footprints
5) Please try your best not to interfere with wildlife, do not attempt to catch any vertebrate fauna including frogs and lizards (this is actually illegal without a permit)
6) Take photos of everything no matter how common you think it is, it all counts towards the tally
7) You can submit your photos up to two weeks after the GSB for them to be counted
8) Keep your distance from dangerous wildlife like Snakes and venomous spiders
9) Follow COVID 19 restrictions if there are any in your local area.

The Great Southern Bioblitz is around three weeks away and spring is in full swing!
What have you noticed in your walks and are you looking forward to the #GSB21?
The Nature festival has been in full swing, and we got involved with our event the 'Biodiversity Treasure Hunt' which was recently held in Belair. This along with the Intervarsity BioBlitz Challenge Intervarsity BioBlitz Challenge was a great lead into the GSB
I recently discovered a Narrow-lipped Spider-Orchid Caladenia leptochila in Belair National park
a new species for me and only the 4th for the park and the first this year
