A project to discuss mantis taxonomy

Many thanks to Kris (@mantodea) for helping sort out Mantid taxonomy on iNaturalist. iNat is now in sync with Mantodea Species File (MSF). Martin Stiewe at MSF has been very helpful updating MSF where it seemed to lag iNat. We've marked the taxon 'complete' with Kris and myself as taxon curators

There are currently two discrepancies from MSF. Both of which seem to be legit names that aren't yet in MSF. We'll leave them here in the hopes that MSF updates soon.

There are three other updates Kris raised that aren't in iNat or MSF yet. Our plan is to try to get MSF to make these updates and then follow suit

MSF still seems to be lagging behind. Over 3 years later, and Stagmomantis Wheeleri has still not replaced Stagmomantis Californica. Stagmomantis Conspurcata is still not recognized as a seperate species from S. Carolina, and then there's the whole synonmy of Oligonicella Scudderi and Thespis Serville to Thespis Parva. MSF is way too slow in adjusting to taxa revision, especially when it comes to North American species.
