In anticipation for Pride Month, iNat is looking to feature some iNatters from the LGBTQIA+ community in a similar way they did in 2021 (https://www.inaturalist.org/blog/52869-pride-month-2021-on-inat)

If you'd like to be featured, you can message @tiwane or email help@inaturalist.org

Pride Month will be here soon!! :)

Pride Month 2022 & iNat/500 Queer Scientists Virtual Mixer

Hi everyone!

I hope we're all having a fun and nature filled pride! I'm so pleased with how this project has taken off over the past year. We're currently at 4,200 members with 1.8 million observations from all across the globe! It's wonderful to see how many of us are out there and all the cool observations we've made.

I also wanted everyone to know about the iNat/500 Queer Scientists 3rd virtual mixer hosted by Dr. Lauren Esposito this year. https://500queerscientists.com/

When: June 30th, 5pm-6pm Pacific Time (see this in your local time)
Where: Zoom
Who: iNat users who identify as LGBTQ+ and allies

You must pre-register here: https://columbiauniversity.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJ0kdumuqT8uGNFaURqybU-gsGCmv7PpaouQ

Lauren will give a short intro and then break participants up into different groups for small conversations. It was a lot of fun last year, I hope you can make it!

Hello everyone

I am so happy to see that this project has grown so quickly having over 400 members in just a few weeks! We also have over half a million iNat observations collectively! That's crazy!! I am so glad that there has been so much interest in this project and honestly surprised at how many of us queer nature folk there are out there using iNat to explore the world. I think the queer visibility that this project brings is also really important. The LGBTQ community is massively diverse in our identities and interests.

Here is a link to the Facebook page "Queers in the Woods" if anyone would like to join that as well.

If anyone has any other resources, articles, or other queer nature groups to join that you would like to share on here please feel free to comment or message me and I'll post it.
