400 records & great volunteerism!

Hi all,

Here is a quick update on the iNaturalist Mosquitoes in Hawaii Project.

We now have 400 mosquito records in Hawaii! This is over 10 times the size of the handful of photographic records we started with in May 2015! Thank you all for your efforts to get us this far!

Volunteers are making significant contributions not only finding new areas where Aedes aegypti wasn't previously recorded but also by studying how the numbers of these invasive species change over the season in response to rainfall and drought.

Overall we now have 37 people signed up for the project! We also have significant volunteer effort to not only collect data but iNaturalist Mosquitoes in Hawaii Project Managers Lynn, Van, Yvonne and Matt are frequently working with community groups and school kids and communicating more about the project in this journal.

If you haven't already seen them, here are links to their latest posts:

Stick it to 'em!

And of course you can browse the entire journal anytime.

Keep on catching and stay safe!
