Pauline Bohnen Municipal Nature Reserve

This nature reserve mainly stands on a limestone plateau with the Wankoe formation of the relatively young Bredasdorp group. The Canca limestone found here hosts plants that can survive in alkaline, calcareous soils near the sea. This not only exposes them to salty winds, but they also have to thrive in poor soils with relatively low nutrition and low annual rainfalls. The reserve encompasses vegetations from Coastal Thicket, Karoo and Limestone/Calcareous dunes.
