I trained as an insect ecologist (PhD from Cornell), then spent 20 years founding and running non-profits focused on environmental policy -- most recently Upstream Policy Institute. When I retired I discovered a new kingdom, fungi. Now I've found a way to marry my love of natural history, scientific training and organizational experience: citizen science. I'm co-founder and president of the North American Mycoflora Project. Our goal is to equip citizen and professional scientists with the tools to document the diversity and distribution of fungi across North America.
