One of my all time favorite Ants. These ants live in small colonies of highly environmentally responsive ants. They watch you in the same way that a jumping spider keeps an eye on your every moment, and it really gives you a sense of what they are thinking when you interact with them.

They are not aggressive towards humans, but have been known to sting if provoked.

The worker caste and the queens are visually very similar. I have never seen a male.

This species of Tetramorium is new to me and my knowledge of the ants on the island of Oahu, HI. At first glance it seems to be a southern fire ant, but it has an elongated body and a very mild temperament. So mild in fact, that I was able to gentle hold an ant in place without it attempting to struggle. When I released my hold it, stayed still for a moment or two before slowly returning to what it was doing.

They were found scavenging a yard waste bin, and more specifically the Papaya scraps that were in it.

This spider was spotted atop the peak of Lanipo trail on Oahu, HI. It was about 3/4" in length and responsive to visual cues within 24-36". The interior of its' legs were colored a light shade of blue, with the rest of the body consisting of reddish-browns, grays, and blacks.

If anyone has any suggestions on a positive ID please let me know. This is the largest species of jumping spider I've ever encountered in Hawaii.
