Last night I was driving up Saint Vrain Canyon on Hwy. 7 and I saw one of these critters! I actually saw two of them. The first one I saw, I wasn't sure what I saw. I thought it resembled a fox, but it wasn't. I thought it resembled a raccoon, but it wasn't. It was dark in color and had a narrow face with fox like ears. I had no idea what it was. He went off the road into the trees. Then driving further up the road, I saw another one. This one, I got a great look at. I slowed down and shined my high beams on him and watched him cross the road. OMG this thing looks like a Lemur with it's striped tail. It walked across the road with it's tail dragging low behind him. I went home thinking it was a pine martin. The next day, I told my coworker what I saw and he told me it sounds like a ring-tailed cat and brought up a picture on his phone. It was totally what I saw!!! I wanted to share this with you, since it seems like such a rare sighting.
Really exciting, thanks so much for sharing. That would be our northern most observation on the Front Range - please consider adding your observation to the database!

I saw what I believe to be a ringtail last night on my deck just south of Canon City.
