Congregation of robins, tearing up ground

Yesterday, I noticed a huge abundance of robins (more than 10, if I remember correctly), flying around sporadically. they were digging into big piles of leaves and ripping them upwards (seen in the robin observation from 1:59pm. I know nothing about robins and their habits, and I thought this was very interesting. Im going to look this up.
