Time: 3:45-5:15pm
Date: 5/1
Location: Walk starting at house in Stow, MA then into town past farm land and through forest then returned.
Weather: 64 and humid. Was grey and raining in the morning then brightened and warmed up. Not much active wind.
Habitat: Varied habitat. Entire walk occurred on the edge of the road but we walked along streams, ponds, various types of agriculture, forest, and highly urbanized areas.
Pair of Goldfinches seen in a bush along a quiet road in Stow MA.
Hard to see in the image, upper right of picture. Had the classic distinct white stripe near the eye of the C. Sparrow. Seen in a bush with others of it's species and with House Sparrows.
Seen in a bush full of both House and Chipping Sparrows. Image is poor quality but there was the obvious grey cap and was slightly larger than the chipping sparrows.
Robins seen along a quiet road, on the lawn.
Male Cardinal seen flitting between coniferous trees on the edge of farmland.
A group seen in a field of cow/sheep pasture. Hard to see in the picture but they do have the lighter brown head in comparison to their body.
The picture is frustrating. This is a male RWBB that flew over me, he had some stunning red/orange coloring on his shoulders that stood out against the grey skys. Sadly it did not come out well in the image.
Canada Geese with goslings seen on the edge of a stream.
Pair of House Finches seen at a feeder. This pair has been nesting on the house and we've gotten to see them a lot. The male is starting to dull from his original breeding color.
