Saw this stranger wondering the beach today with one of our resident New Zealand dotterels. Word on the street is that it has been a weekend for migrant visitors on the west coast so i guess they were stopping by for a rest and a feed!

The usual third wheel NZ dotterel hanging about in its usual area. Today however, instead of hanging out near the usual breeding pair, I saw it following what I thought was a juvenile godwit (could be wrong there). Can anyone identify the other bird? It was a pretty nice day at Piha today so allot of people on the beach but the public seemed to be respecting the cordoned nesting area which is great.
