Poor cell phone pictures, but looked interesting. Habitat is open woodland edge, pond nearby. Lancet has been seen here. This seemed fairly small, noticeable club. Bright thorax

Following Conway's post, I easily re-found these around where he had them in early January. Clustered on water cress that was surrounded by flowing water (seemingly absent from clumps on shoreline). Greatest congregations were near spring, though saw a handful further downriver. I only had a cellphone camera. Have a fancy camera today, but its pouring rain. Took several specimens.
