Lamps_for_Champs

Lamps for Champs is a site for collecting much-needed information about lamprey in the Southern Hemisphere. Scientist currently know little about Southern Hemisphere lamprey when they are in freshwater, and nothing about Southern Hemisphere lamprey when they are in the ocean. We need the help of Lamprey Champion Citizen Scientists (LCC's) to learn more about these fascinating and mysterious fish! The efforts of LCC's will be used to solve large important questions such as 1. How are lamprey distributed in the Southern Hemisphere? 2. What do lamprey feed on when they are in the ocean? and 3. How are the different populations of lamprey species related in the Southern Hemisphere? The answers to these questions will be used by natural resource managers and conservationists to protect the species. This protection is particularly important now since lamprey numbers are decreasing due to habitat alteration, disease, and climate change. menos ↑
